Sorotouch: Ways to avoid frustration! How to motivate!

After you’ve finally got the Sorotouch app… When finally the kid got used to the app’s operation… I get up, look and see “No progress.”, “My kid seemed to get tired of it.”, ” They’re not using the app at all.”, “Ending up telling them to use the app every day.” A lot of families face these problems daily. In this article, I will introduce seven(7) solutions for Sorotouch frustrations.

Are you frustrated? About to give up? be aware ghosts will appear!

A new way to learn mental calculation, “Sorotouch”! Sorotouch is an app used to learn how to calculate mentally. You can install it on your iPad. Sorotouch does not only cater to traditional classroom students but also to online classes as well.

But recently, my kid has not even opened Sorotouch even once.

Without proper support, many families will end up with the same or similar situation as this.

We call those green character ghosts. Not doing Sorotouch for a day will make you into a ghost.

Preventing frustration. 1.) Check their Learning data.

[balloon] He’s saying he’s doing it but…

He’s saying he’s always using the app but…

Let’s first check their learning data through the app!

When you open the Sorotouch app, their status for the past week is on the upper part of the screen …

The numbers at the bottom right of the cute characters are the number of missions cleared that day.

Its in Japanese? No worries, we can set different languages anytime.

There are three(3) characters that you need to take note of:

No mission cleared for the whole day = Ghost (The green slime-looking character)

At least one (1) mission cleared for the whole day = Carl (The cute yellow character)

At least three (3) missions cleared for the whole day = Prince Carl (Carl with a crown and a cape)

You looked at it and saw a lot of ghosts. It got you worried!

Another thing you can do is to press the Record button on the lower part of the screen. You can see more detailed information regarding your kid’s Sorotouch activities like study durations, correct answer percentage for Adition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division separately.

What you’ll find out after checking their detailed record:

  1. It looks like they did a few last weeks even if they weren’t able to do Sorotouch this week.
  2. They’re not studying daily but finishing a lot of missions during weekends.
  3. Finding out that your kid is having trouble with the listening parts.

With that, you may find a good way to approach the problem.

There is nothing to worry about If you can see seven (7) or more missions accomplished every week. Note that the recommended accomplished mission per day is one.

Preventing frustration. 2.) Aim to be listed in the ranking

My kid is doing ok, but he/she doesn’t seem to be very motivated.

In that case, let’s aim toward the national ranking enlistment.

National ranking? I’m not sure if we can do it!…

You might think of that but you’ll be surprised that it’s easier than you think. There are milestones your children can look forward to, examples are…

  • Most cleared missions for the day.
  • Ealy riser ranking (the earlier you study with Sorotouch the better)
  • There are things that are updated daily, so

Challenge your kids to wake up early and study with Sorotouch. They may end up in the higher ranks.

No. 1 out of 5,000! now that will boost their confidence!

The ranking is also on the official Sorotouch website. You can use your phone to check it. Check on days you think your kid is doing well. You might find them in the upper ranking.

Preventing frustration. 3.) Utilize the game called [+-Advanced]

They’re stumbling on a specific problem and can’t seem to solve it.

There is a “+-Advanced” in the game. It is for tackling specific issues.

For example:

  • Having problems with carry-up, carry-down, etc.
  • Difficulty in Listening-tests and invisible numbers.
  • Making a lot of mistakes during missions.

It is a game your kids can play to train themselves to advance stage.

There are times kids struggles on a specific mission. Having them repeat it over and over again may result in a tantrum.

If that is the case, have them train at the “+-Advanced” first then work on the mission.

Regardless of the number of cleared missions, let’s also put the time to have them do special training sessions. Children in a traditional classroom setting also train using the Dojo when they stumble on a mission.

How do we train using the “+-Advanced”?

1.)Press the game button, scroll up and press the “+-Advanced” button

2.) Choose the type of game you want to practice. Listening, Reading, Visible beads, or Invisible beads. (Choose the one that will match your kid’s weakness)

You’ll have three (3) options. [Challenge] [Total questions], and [random]. Pick one (1) and click to proceed.

[Total questions] is recommended if you want to practice slowly. You can also go back to previous stages so practice according to what your kid finds difficult.

Preventing frustration. 4.) It’s time to find a Sorotouch friend.

The majority of the time, games are more fun when played with someone else. Interacting with a fellow Sorotouch kid might boost their confidence and motivation. Friendly competition and rivalry will do well for the kids’ progress.

  • Let’s try Sorotouch with our friends!
  • Let’s also start and try Sorotouch with our siblings.
  • Let’s try and see how the trial kids are doing.

If they find out that their friends are working harder on Sorotouch,

It will motivate your kid to try harder too.

Preventing frustration. 5.) Before totally giving up, Why not try the Traditional Classroom setting first!

My kid has not studied with Sorotouch for weeks … I’m about to give up…

If that is the case, if you are an online student, we recommend that you join the traditional classroom.

If the kid is in a classroom,

  • they get compliments from their teachers if they’re doing Sorotouch daily at home.
  • Make sure they have time to concentrate on their missions once a week
  • We can monitor the mental calculation capacity of children in the S stage and U stage up close.

Having said so, we can expect them to be more motivated to advance.

If the kid is a classroom student and frustrated, questions are:

  • Do you have enough students in your classroom?
  • → A classroom with one or two people may not ignite the kids’ inner competitiveness
  •  It is recommended to look for a classroom with a larger number of students!
  • Do they like having conversations with the teacher?
  • → The teacher knows a lot of cases, so they may give some advice on how to get motivated!

If you don’t have access to a near classroom setting or the nearest classroom has not a lot of students, you may want to consider Sorotouch online. there are some cases in TRYWARP online classes where kids stumbling to advance from stage S for three months suddenly progressed to stage U.
